Information Technology

The information Technology department at Ursinus College is responsible for all computing and audio/video resources. 
Systems and services include:

DOWNLOADING MICROSOFT OFFICE DOCUMENTS FROM BLACKBOARD HELP

To stop Internet Explorer from blocking Microsoft document file downloads:

Open Internet Explorer web browser

Click the Tools tab >  Internet Options, then click the Security tab > click the Custom Level button. In the Custom Level window scroll down to the Downloads section. The first item under 'Downloads' is 'Automatic Prompting for file downloads'-- Set that to 'ENABLE' instead of 'DISABLE'.

Save and close the Internet Explorer browser window.

Open Internet Explorer again and login to Blackboard.  Now, when opening a document, you will be given an "Open", "Save", "Cancel" option box.

An alternative is Firefox. Download and install  Firefox (www.firefox.com). There are no known errors with Firefox at this time.

LAPTOP PROGRAM

Students are required to return or purchase their laptop sometime between Reading Day and their last final exam in their sophomore and senior years. Laptops are leased by Ursinus for two years and must be returned to Dell or purchased at the end of the lease. Failure to return the laptop will result in a charge for the cost of a new laptop.
Additionally, students are required to immediately return your laptop in good working condition, and with all originally installed/provided peripherals, if their status as a full time student at the college changes.
