Philly Campus

Independent Learning

Students in the documentary film course shadow local filmmakers and organizations to learn more about production. Two Ursinus students visited PhillyCAM, a community access station, and worked with area high schoolers.

Internships

Students are encouraged to complete an internship related to film studies whether in film exhibition, production, or distribution. Recent film studies minors have interned at the Colonial Theater, local ABC and NBC stations, the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, and the Philadelphia Film Festival.

Summer Fellows Program

Jordan Scharaga at Summer Fellows Presentation Day

Each summer a quarter to a third of the rising senior class spends two months on campus, each student working individually with a faculty mentor to complete an in-depth research project. Jordan Scharaga (seen above boasting a Doris Day/Rock Hudson telephone pin) did a project on women in romantic comedies that turned into a distinguished honors project.

Students accepted into this prestigious program are given a stipend and housing accommodation for the summer.
