November 11 - Looking Ahead to Thanksgiving Break and Remaining Vigilant

Dear Students,

Your continued efforts to Defend the Den are not only appreciated, but also impressive. As a campus, we are limiting the spread of the coronavirus in ways that other colleges applaud. There is no doubt that our success to this point is due to your vigilance. As we look ahead to Thanksgiving and our move to remote learning, we must remember that we are not done yet.

The COVID-19 fall surge is continuing in Montgomery County. Last week, the positivity rate increased to 5.2% (up from 4.6% the previous week), reaching a level that indicates the virus is spreading in local communities. The increase of confirmed positive cases is across all age groups, but especially in those 60 years of age and younger. Yes, our goal is to protect you, but we also want to send you home healthy to help protect your loved ones as well.

For these reasons, following the guidelines is more important than ever:

  • Wear your mask
  • Maintain physical distancing
  • Protect the “Ursinus bubble” and do not travel off campus unless necessary
  • Get your COVID-19 test

We must stay the course over the next two weeks. Keep being selfless. The Philadelphia Inquirer has once again commended our—YOUR—success and praised our testing approach, which it calls “one of the most aggressive virus testing programs of colleges in the region.” If you have not been tested this week, please do a walk-in appointment at the field house today before 4:00 p.m. and remember to test next week as scheduled.

Keep up the great work. We can do this, Bears!
