January 21 - Booster Clinic Registration and Important Testing Updates

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we head into the first weekend of the semester, I wanted to provide two important updates, the first of which requires action on your part.

First is that Rite Aid will be back on campus on Thursday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Field House to administer doses of the Pfizer booster vaccine. The sign-up link is now live, and we strongly encourage students, faculty and staff to register soon, as timeslots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As a reminder, all participants must bring a valid ID, your insurance card (or a copy), and your vaccination card to the clinic. Further details are available at the link below:

Second, we’ve updated the dashboard with this week’s on-campus testing results, and we will continue to provide a Friday morning Instagram post that clearly states transmission rate among campus. Our initial round of arrival testing on Tuesday and Wednesday had a positivity rate of just below 2%–slightly better than our expectations and a percentage for which we have been preparing. As of Friday morning, in our second round of all-student tests, we are seeing a positivity rate below 1%. Every student must test again once next week, which will continue to closely monitor the health of campus as we begin our semester.

While the improvement is encouraging, we expect to continue to have Omicron on campus for a while, so it is very important that students mask indoors, particularly in academic settings like classes, labs, and studios, and preferably with highly effective masks such as KN95s. You should have received two at check-in but can also obtain them at Campus Safety or at the testing site.

We also continue to answer questions in the COVID email inbox as quickly as we can. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make our way through the replies.

We are pleased to partner with Rite Aid to bring the booster clinic to campus next Thursday. We look forward to seeing many of you there. Until then, thank you for your cooperation and have a great weekend!
