#Giving2UCday marks the single largest annual day of giving for Ursinus—one that will raise crucial dollars for the Annual Fund and awareness for the college and the importance of philanthropy. The event is held in conjunction with the national Giving Tuesday, a day focused on generosity juxtaposed against traditional shopping days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

With an emphasis on participation rather than dollar amount, the 24-hour #Giving2UCday challenge is aimed at raising funds and increasing giving participation and engagement among Ursinus’s community of alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends.

During its inaugural year, the college aimed to have 500 donors participate in the event and each year, it has grown substantially, with 2,045 donors contributing more than $500,000 last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic forcing an entirely virtual event.

For 2021, the theme is “Our Bears ROAR,” capturing a spirit of heightened energy and optimism within the Ursinus community. With a goal of 2,100 donors with the 24-hour period, #Giving2UCday festivities will include on-campus events and other engagement opportunities, including a presence on social media.

Every part of the unique Ursinus experience is supported by the generosity of our donors on this day, including financial aid, academics, health and wellness, and student life.

President Jill Leauber Marsteller ’78, P’18 said, “I have watched #Giving2UCday grow in its scope and impact since its inception eight years ago. This important day has emerged as a moment of togetherness for our community, as well as an important resource in support of the college and our students.”

“#Giving2UCday brings with it so much positive energy, and that is no more apparent than this year with the ‘Our Bears ROAR!’ theme,” said Ava Willis-Barksdale, interim vice president for advancement. “We are excited to have our Bears on campus and across the globe unite over this 24-hour period to show their pride for Ursinus.”
