James C Tiggett, III

James has the following key responsibilities; maintain and develop the college’s Voice over IP  Telephone systems, Manage Mobile solutions, and other communication technology environments (including but not limited to Cable TV, Printing, Mobile Devices, Cash Registers, etc.), support the development and the expansion of the college’s use of communication software and hardware.  This is a full-time position that’s a part the team of  IT professionals in the college’s Library and Information Technology Department.

The position reports to the Director of Network Systems and Infrastructure and will work on cross-departmental project teams to provide high availability and flexible telephony and mobility infrastructure to support the college’s mission to enable students to become independent, responsible, and thoughtful individuals through a program of liberal education.

Background

James has been with Ursinus College since December of 2004. Prior to that, he started as a Computer Technician at a large corporation in downtown Philadelphia that sold internet and voice-mail services.  This lead to becoming a manager and Jr. Systems Admin in a few short years.  Pursing opportunity lead to taking a position with UC Facilities as Data Coordinator.  Management of office operations and auxiliary services shortly followed.  As technology advanced and other opportunities emerged James and his position shifted to UC Information Technology where it would be better positioned for the future.

Education

Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Ursinus College (Minor in Fine Art)
