Over the fall semester, Jordana Rosen interned at Wrightstown Health and Fitness in Newtown, PA. She found this opportunity online through Chegg. Before she began working at Wrightstown, Jordana was interviewed for the position via phone. The main focus of her work at the internship was being able to help the company with its digital marketing. Jordana assisted the company in growing its social media presence. She posted whatever was on the agenda for each day and she also got to create her own content for posts, including YouTube videos. In addition, Jordana made print marketing materials such as flyers or invitations. Towards the end of her experience, the senior planned the company’s biggest event, Ladies Night Out. Her favorite aspect of the internship was the environment. “I love health and fitness, so getting to go to work alongside personal trainers, nutritionists, physical therapists, etc. made my job so much fun. It was blending my major with a passion of mine, which was really cool,” adds Jordana. The most challenging part was dealing with negativity on social media.
Social media, digital marketing, event planning, public relations, and creating and editing videos were the major skills that the senior utilized at her internship. The senior feels that this opportunity improved her social media skills, especially in a more business sense rather than for personal use. She also believes that since we live in a world where internet and social media are so widespread, the skills she obtained from this experience can be used in a variety of fields.
Who I Met that Made a Difference
Sarah, a massage therapist, made a big difference in Jordana’s internship experience. Jordana worked a lot with Sarah since she played a huge role in event planning. “Her attitude and personality is what made such a difference. She was always so upbeat and her positivity made me excited about the work I was doing and made me eager to do better! It just goes to show how much you can change people’s moods and attitudes just by being nice and optimistic,” explains the senior.
During her time at Wrightstown, Jordana made connections with people from all different backgrounds and fields of work. These connections are very important to the senior because Wrightstown is a small business and everyone from every department works together as a whole. Overall, Jordana learned about SEO, Google Analytics, and AdWords, which were tricky to learn at first, but things that will be useful for her in the future. She would consider asking the people that she worked with for recommendations and use them as references for future job opportunities.
The Coolest Part of the Experience
“The coolest part of the experience was attending Ladies Night Out. It was really awesome to see something that I had helped plan and put together for so long come to life. It was like seeing all of the hard work pay off! I also got to make the invitations for the event and a YouTube video of the whole night, which was fun as well.”
Jordana advises to try to get into something you’re passionate about when pursuing internships because it makes your job and experience easier and more fun. She would recommend this internship to anyone with a similar area of interest.
