Assistant Director of Admission, Abele Scholars Recruitment Coordinator




The Assistant Director (AD) of Admission, Abele Scholars Recruitment Coordinator plays a significant role in supporting the mission and overall goals of Ursinus College. As a critical team member in the Office of Admission, the AD will lead recruitment efforts to achieve the overall enrollment goals of the Abele Scholars Program, as well as support the program’s success in conjunction with the Director of the Abele Scholars Program. The AD will oversee all aspects of Abele Scholars recruitment, act as a liaison to the Abele Family Foundation on all matters related to Enrollment Management, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the division, and across the institution, to support the goals of the Abele Scholars Program, as well as the overall enrollment goals of the college.

The Assistant Director must be confident and team-oriented, with the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships – these are particularly critical with others on campus who work with Abele Scholars, such as the Director of the Abele Scholars Program. The AD will act as a resource for the enrollment division, admission team, campus partners, and the Abele Family Foundation. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively across departments, and is responsible for maintaining the relationship between Ursinus College and the Abele Family Foundation as related to Abele Scholars Program recruitment initiatives.

A proactive and nimble approach to evolving environments in application development, project management, and higher education trends is needed for successful outcomes.


  • Meet established enrollment goals for the Abele Scholars Program
  • Through collaboration with other departmental staff, plan and execute strategies to attract qualified and interested students to the Abele Scholars Program at Ursinus College
  • Work collaboratively with enrollment marketing to develop communication strategies for increasing awareness, attracting and enrolling qualified students to the Abele Scholar program
  • In collaboration with senior staff in admission, enrollment operations, and enrollment marketing, the Director of the Abele Scholars Program, as well as other faculty and staff across campus and representatives of the Abele Family Foundation, implement and facilitate the annual scholar selection process
  • Coordinate timeline and logistics of the Abele Scholars Program application and review process from initial steps through awarding of the scholarship process, including overseeing admission events related to the Abele Scholars Program
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Abele Scholars Program to learn more about current scholars to enhance recruitment initiatives
  • Meet with prospective Abele Scholars Program students and parents regarding financial aid and basic student account matters as needed
  • Serve as primary liaison to incoming Abele Scholars in matters related to enrollment, and work collaboratively with the Director of the Abele Scholars Program regarding transition to Ursinus College until the time of matriculation
  • Respond to inquiries about the Abele Scholarship regarding applications, admissions policies and procedures, financial aid questions and program offerings at Ursinus College through prompt response to phone calls, text messages, and email inquiries
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective Abele Scholars and their families through frequent telephone, email, written and in-person contact
  • Utilizing input from the Director of the Abele Scholars Program and the Director of Admission, manage all activities related to recruitment of the Abele scholars in efforts to grow the enrollment pipeline, including but not limited to: outreach to high schools, community-based organizations (CBOs), and prospective inquiries and applicants
  • Acts as a full member of the admission team with on-campus presence at events, including but not limited to open houses, Admitted Students Day, Specialty Scholarship Day, and Zacharias Honors event
  • Serve as primary liaison with Abele Family Foundation on matters related to the Abele Scholars Program recruitment via weekly check-in calls
  • Exercise professional judgment in alignment with the college’s institutional values, follow established guidelines and expectations, and consult with senior staff members when necessary in all aspects related to the Abele Scholars Program

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3+ years of progressively responsible admission, higher education, or related experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of, and passion for, the liberal arts
  • A celebration of diversity, both in the workplace and in student population
  • A high proficiency in multi-tasking as well as strategic thinking
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A collaborative and transparent approach to problem-solving
  • A desire to join and foster a dynamic, transformative campus culture
  • A valid driver’s license, US passport and the ability to participate in significant travel
  • Ability to stand in one place for significant amounts of time and ability to lift boxes up to 40 pounds

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Master’s Degree and/or 5+ years of admission experience at a regionally accredited, liberal arts institution
  • Experience with data and reporting, and a desire to provide enrollment research support
  • In-depth knowledge of Slate CRM
