Overview

The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for the administration and organization of a successful program that competes at the NCAA Division III level.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining a successful program while providing a positive student-athlete experience
  • Planning and conducting practices, teaching and implementing skills and strategies, and player development
  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluating Assistant Coaches and/or Volunteer Coaches
  • Evaluation and recruitment of qualified student-athletes
  • Retention of quality student-athletes
  • Scheduling games, practices, team activities, transportation, team meals, etc.
  • Development and management of the program’s budget and fundraising efforts
  • Providing guidance to student-athletes regarding their academic and overall success
  • Alumni and community outreach
  • Campus, community, and media relations

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 1-3 years collegiate coaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of rules and techniques of the sport
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, delegation and planning ability
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
  • Experience with recruiting and fundraising
