Modern Languages

Since preschool, I have loved learning the Spanish language. My grandmother is part Mexican and she frequently talks about our heritage, but the language was mostly lost starting with her generation. Learning Spanish here at Ursinus allows me not only to learn the language, but also learn about Hispanic culture and customs, a lot of which has been lost in my family. The Spanish department has provided me with several beneficial opportunities, including the ability to study abroad and form great relationships with professors and students alike. The choice to become a Spanish major has been critical for my personal development, allowing me to be less ignorant and generally more well rounded.
