Overview

The Department of Modern Languages at Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish to begin in Fall 2024. We seek candidates who have an active research agenda in Hispanic literary and cultural studies, native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and a commitment to liberal arts education and student research. Specialization is open but preference will be given to candidates who specialize in health humanities, have a demonstrated interest in community engagement, and can participate in such interdisciplinary programs as Latin American Studies, Health and Society, Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies, and/or African American and Africana Studies.

Responsibilities

The 3/2 course load will include teaching at all levels of Spanish language, literature and culture and in the college’s first-year interdisciplinary seminar, the Common Intellectual Experience (CIE). Other responsibilities include support of Ursinus’s Quest: Open Questions Open Minds core curriculum, supervision of student research, advising of Spanish majors and first-year students, and service to the department and the college.

Requirements and Qualifications

Ph.D. is required by the beginning of the fall semester in August 2024.
