Vacation

The College recognizes that annual vacations contribute positively to an employee’s attitude, health and productivity.

All vacation schedules are subject to approval in advance by the supervisor. (Effective July 1, 2017)

For Full-Time Non-Exempt Employees (Hourly):

Vacation benefits for full-time non-exempt employees who are regularly scheduled to work 35 hours or more per week, or 1,820 hours per year, are eligible for paid vacations as follows:

From your hire date until July 1, a prorated portion of seven (7) days paid vacation following your first day of employment to be used by July 1;

  • At your 1st July 1, seven (7) days paid vacation plus the prorated amount when you were hired; (see chart below)
  • At your 2nd July 1, fifteen (15) days paid vacation;
  • At your 11th July 1, twenty (20) days paid vacation.
  • No carryover of days is allowed at July 1.

For Full-Time Exempt Employees (Salaried):

Vacation benefits for full-time salary exempt employees are eligible for paid vacation days as follows:

  • From your hire date until July 1, a prorated portion of seven (7) days paid vacation following your first day of employment, to be used by July 1; (see chart below)

  • At your 1st July 1, seven (7) days paid vacation plus the prorated amount when you were hired; 

  • At your 2nd July 1, fifteen (15) days paid vacation;

  • At your 11th July 1, twenty (20) days paid vacation. 

  • At your 16th July 1, twenty five (25) days paid vacation.

  • No carryover of days is allowed at July 1. 

Staff members may have contractual conditions of employment which explicitly state the provisions of paid vacation time with the College for the academic year or college fiscal year. All payments and time-off will be provided in accordance with the contractual conditions.

For Part-Time Non-Exempt Employees (Hourly):

Part-time non-exempt personnel, those scheduled to work less than 35 hours per week, or 1,820 hours per year, but who are scheduled to work more than 1,000 hours per year, will, after their third consecutive year of employment of 1,000 hours or more, earn paid vacation benefits to be taken in the fiscal year following their third anniversary of employment, and after each succeeding year of employment of 1,000 hours or more thereafter. The benefits are as follows:

  • At your third anniversary of employment, a prorated portion of five (5) days paid vacation, to be used by July 1; (see chart below)

  • At your 1st July 1 following the 3rd anniversary date if employee has worked at least 1,000 hours; five (5) days paid vacation

  • One (1) day paid vacation for each additional 164 hours worked in excess of the first 1,000 hours, to a maximum of ten (10) vacation days each year.

  • No carryover of days is allowed at July 1.

The College will, under normal circumstances, pay a departing employee for unused, accumulated vacation at the time of separation from employment.
