Ursinus 150

Supporting Ursinus 150

As the college works to implement the new Ursinus 150 strategic plan, LIT will be working to develop Library and Information Technology strategies and tactics that support the seven key strategies.

As we focus our work in alignment with the Ursinus 150 plan, the following core principles will guide us:

  1. We are responsible for the college’s plans for technology and information – LIT coordinates, informs and implements those strategies and tactics in partnership with its many stakeholders.

  2. Our plans should be future-oriented, based on trends within an information-rich and technology-enabled world in which our students, faculty and staff work and live (including issues of mobility, persistent connections, immediate access, publicly available information, and “cloud resources”)

  3. Our plans should be institutional (within the broad context of the college), organizational (meeting needs of communities of practice) and personal (solving personal needs and enabling individual success)

  4. Planning should be based on community dialogue and input; the Library and IT Committee (LITC) will be particularly useful in guiding our work, but regular communications with community members will also be critical.

  5. Priorities will need to be negotiated in short, medium, and long-term planning processes

  6. We must strive to eliminate wasted and underutilized resources

  7. We should consider both the upfront and ongoing costs of investments in technology and information resources

  8. Best-practices of peer institutions must be considered

  9. Our plans should be both aspirational and affordable

  10. Our plan must be sustainable

  11. Strategically, Library & IT will be responsible for administering the core strategies for technology and information, as our organization is a service to the whole institution and its larger goals.
