Residence Life COVID-19 Considerations

We encourage all students living in double or triple occupancy rooms to talk to their roommates and if applicable, suitemates about plans for living should someone living in the space test positive for COVID-19.

Questions for roommates to consider and discuss prior to returning to campus:

  • If someone tests positive for COVID-19 do all roommates either a) live in a distance where they can go home to isolate on a private car? and/or b) have a close friend/relative who has agreed that they can stay with them who they can get to in a private car?
  • If someone tests positive for COVID-19 and cannot go home, what is our plan as a room knowing that person needs to isolate in place? Things to consider:
    • Will a roommate(s) return home while the person who has tested positive for COVID-19 isolates in place?
    • Will a roommate(s) stay with a friend of peer in another room on campus if the person who tests positive for COVID-19 has no choice but to isolate in place?
    • If someone tests positive for COVID-19 and needs to isolate in place, is the other roommate(s) comfortable staying in the room during that time?
  • What are our expectations for one another around testing for COVID-19 (please keep in mind that the Ursinus Wellness Center will be testing for symptomatic cases only)?
    • Do we expect each other to routinely self-test for COVID-19? How often?
    • Do we expect each other to self-test for COVID-19 when experiencing symptoms of any illness?

      • Are our plans different for suitemates different than direct roommates? How?
    • How will we communicate with one another about sharing the suite bathroom if someone in the suite has to isolate in place due to a COVID-19 infection?
